From 7 to 10 October 2026, Seungyeob Baik and Jiyoung Yoon represented Near & Wise IP at the AIPPI World Congress in Hamburg, Germany. It was a chance to share practical perspectives, discover fresh ideas and reconnect with colleagues across the international IP community.
International collaboration starts with knowing the people
Protecting and managing rights across jurisdictions requires knowledge of local systems and a clear understanding of whom to work with. Meeting in person helps us understand colleagues’ approaches to practice and communication, laying the groundwork for more open exchanges when the next matter arises.
In Hamburg, we exchanged experiences and interests with IP professionals from around the world. We continue to invest in these relationships to connect Korean practice with work in other jurisdictions.
Moments from Hamburg

Bringing those connections into client work
For our clients and foreign associates, those relationships support practical cooperation between a Korean team and counsel abroad. They provide a foundation for the way we work:
- A clear path through Korean practice
We explain Korean examination standards and procedures in the context of the wider matter, helping foreign counsel and businesses make informed decisions. - Direct dialogue across jurisdictions
We coordinate filing strategy, translation, prosecution and deadlines through direct exchanges with local counsel. - Patents, trademarks and designs in context
We connect the relevant expertise to the type of right and the client’s business objectives, supporting collaboration through portfolio management and disputes.
Serious about IP, enthusiastic about good company
As we wrote on LinkedIn, we take IP seriously and bring just as much enthusiasm to enjoying time together. Conversations and laughter between the formal discussions were part of what made Hamburg memorable.
Many colleagues also asked after our teammate Soojin Yang, who was missed in Hamburg. It was a welcome reminder that these relationships extend across our team.
Thank you to everyone who made Hamburg such a rewarding experience. We look forward to carrying these conversations into future collaboration and thoughtful IP strategies for our clients.
